WORDS OF TRUTH

I am no licensed counselor but some friends have asked for my counsel on marriage, parenting, work, relationships, and spiritual matters among other things.

Many times I had been asked if I had remembered what I told a friend on something. Blame it on my several general anesthesia that had been administered in my body, I could not recall what I shared specifically to that friend who sought my advice.

Hubby said I better record what I shared. But I realized that I did not need to record all these things because I already have a back-up — the Bible. I share my experiences, practical tips and use God’s word to guide me and to hopefully guide them to reach wise, godly decisions.

In 2 Timothy 3:16, NLT: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

The Bible for me is the absolute truth and I use it as my point of reference on how I advise people.

Sharing with you some Scriptures that have guided me through these years:

On Priorities and Time Management:
Matthew 6:33
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

On Parenting:
Proverbs 22:6, 15
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

On Marriage:
Genesis 2:24
“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”

Ephesians 5:21–33:
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word,

27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church —

30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”

32 This is a profound mystery — but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

On how to respond to our government leaders:

1 Timothy 2:1–4
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

On things that make us anxious:
Philippians 4:6–7
“6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

When we seek His will through His Scriptures, our Heavenly Father delights in guiding us and showing us what is best for us according to His plan for our lives.

When speaking the truth becomes a lifestyle, recalling what we shared would not be a problem.
